Why not get your new year off to a great start
with a visit to Sanibel Island?
If you are among those who are suffering through cold weather and falling snow, Sanibel is the perfect place to get away from it all.
We have some weeks still available at our Pointe Santo de Sanibel properties; feel free to email or call to find out if one of those weeks would suit your needs. If we don't, I'll be happy to help you find someone who does.
The weather right now is wonderful. The grass is green, flowers are blooming, the pool water is warm and inviting, and so are the beach chairs. Perhaps you would enjoy a game of tennis or shuffle board in the warm sunshine. Or if shelling is your favorite pastime, you shouldn't be disappointed, it's been very good lately, due to a passing cold front, now and then.
Since the island is busier during the winter months, you will find more scheduled activities and things to do. Below is one example:
City of Sanibel Native Plant Tour
The City of Sanibel Vegetation Committee is offering guided native plant tours of City Hall grounds, which have been planted solely with native plants. Due to the positive response last year, the City of Sanibel Vegetation Committee is again offering guided native plant tours of City Hall grounds, which have been planted solely with native plants, on the following dates:
Wednesday, January 12, 2011 Saturday, January 22, 2011
The City Hall wildflowers are showing their colors and are in full bloom. Come walk the grounds for ideas on planting native vegetation that requires no fertilizer. Come see how you can plant a garden that reseeds itself with very little maintenance, is good for the environment and will attract birds and butterflies.
Vegetation Committee members will provide information on proper planting and care of native vegetation. The City of Sanibel encourages planting of vegetation that is indigenous to the area as it requires very little maintenance, NO fertilizer, and NO supplemental irrigation.
The guided tour begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. Registration is not required. Attendees meet at the main entrance to City Hall, 800 Dunlop Road, in front of the main staircase. For additional information regarding the guided native vegetation tour, please contact the City's Natural Resources Department at (239) 472-3700.
Come on down,
it's all waiting for you!
